A total of 10,039 people were arrested between 9 June 2019 and 30 September 2020. The data are from the Hong Kong police.
Among the arrested, 2,266 have been charged with crimes including rioting, unlawful assembly and possession of offensive weapons, among others.
The police said 532 out of the 635 offenders who have gone through judicial proceedings are subject to legal consequences.
The police stressed that during the COVID-19 epidemic, the public should not only maintain a social distance, but also keep an absolute distance from committing crimes.
