World Press Photo exhibition closed in Macau without explanation

Gilberto Lopes

Photographs alluding to the protests in Hong Kong may be the basis for the decision to close the exhibition in Macau early.

The World Press Photo, which gathers the best photographs in the world, on display at Casa Garden, closed definitively last weekend.

The president of Casa de Portugal, an association that has been organizing the exhibition in Macau for more than 10 years, told TDM-Rádio Macau that “internal management problems” led to the end of the exhibition, which opened on September 25 and should be open until October 18th.

Amélia António did not want to say any further clarifications, limiting herself to saying that the exhibition “has been closed since the weekend”.

According to what Radio learned, the early closing of the exhibition may be related to the exhibition of photographs of the protests in Hong Kong.
