Trump asks UN to hold China accountable for expanding pandemic

US President Donald Trump today urged the United Nations to “take responsibility from China” for its role in the early phase of the expansion of the covid-19 pandemic.

In his speech during the general debate of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, Trump criticized China’s performance in the face of the pandemic, accusing the Asian country, with which he is involved in several fronts of conflict, of not warning to the real risks of the spread of the new coronavirus and of having “concealed relevant facts” about the health crisis.

The American President also urged the United Nations to sanction China for its actions during the pandemic, before launching several other attacks on Beijing, namely in the environmental area, accusing the Chinese Government of being the main polluter of the oceans, depositing many tons. plastic in the waters.

Donald Trump took advantage of his speech to praise the role of the United States in “restoring world peace”, recalling the mediation in the agreements between Israel and Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

“We are creating a new Middle East,” said Trump, saying that the Israeli-Arab agreements are also positive for peace on the planet and that he will fight for new treaties to emerge.

“We are leaders in defending human rights,” said Trump, invoking treaties with several Central American countries, defending the interests of migrants who cross borders, fleeing atrocities from other countries.

Trump also spoke of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, as proof that the United States is involved in conflict-pacing solutions, despite its military might.

“We are the largest military power. (…) We have the most powerful and advanced weapons. We hope we never have to use them, ”said Trump, invoking the huge investment the US has made in military development.

Trump also said that the United States was responsible for the “100% elimination” of the Islamic State and for the hardening of the fight against terrorism in various parts of the world.

“The prosperity of the United States is the basis of the prosperity of the world,” concluded the American President, promising to continue fighting for peace and development, adding that he believes that next year will bring “unprecedented development”, past the phase of the pandemic.

“We are going to eliminate the virus. We will win the pandemic, ”said Trump, saying the United States is looking for a vaccine for covid-19, which will be applied en masse as soon as it becomes available.
