Not even the police prevent an armed attack on buses in Sofala

Two people died and eight others were injured, one of them in serious condition, as a result of armed attacks, which occurred this Sunday morning, in Sofala province, central Mozambique.

The armed attack took place on the National Road number one (EN1), on the border between the districts of Gorongosa and Nhamatanda, and the affected buses travel in a column of vehicles escorted by police officers from the Republic of Mozambique.

According to the newspaper O País, the targets were a vehicle from the City Link and three from Nagy, which were destined for the cities of Nampula and Quelimane, from Beira and Maputo [in the center and south of the country].

According to one of the survivors, who was traveling on the first ambushed bus, this Sunday morning, the shots were carried out by individuals hidden in a forest, near the bridge over the Púnguè river.
