The photographic works of Gonçalo Lobo Pinheiro and João Miguel Barros were distinguished in this year’s edition of the Paris Photo Awards. The “Jamestown” project, made in Ghana, gave João Miguel Barros the first gold award in the “Press / Other” category. The covid-19 in Macau and the protests in Hong Kong gave Gonçalo Lobo Pinheiro two honorable mentions

Portuguese photographers Gonçalo Lobo Pinheiro and João Miguel Barros, based in Macau, saw their work distinguished at the Paris Photo Awards (PX3). The results of this year’s edition of the awards were published yesterday.

In the case of João Miguel Barros, the “Jamestwon” project, photographed in Accra, the capital of Ghana, won the first gold award in the “Press / Other (non-professional)” category. This is a photographic project done in Jamestwon, the name of a neighborhood in Accra where fishing is still a way of life and survival for many families.
