Brazilian deputy was called “ridiculous black woman” and filed a complaint for racism

Federal deputy Benedita da Silva (PT-RJ) filed a complaint of racism, injury and defamation against Júlio Marcos Saraiva. The 78-year-old pre-candidate for the mayor of Rio de Janeiro was the victim of racist offenses made in the profile of the administrator and resident of Belém (PA) on Facebook

The information is from the newspaper O Globo. According to the parliamentarian, a police report was registered at the Police Station for Racial Crimes and Intolerance Crimes (DECRADI) in Rio.

The attacks on the deputy occurred last week. Also according to O Globo, Saraiva criticized the consultation made by the deputy to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) that led the Court to decide for the proportional allocation of resources from the electoral fund and the TV time for black candidates. In the publication, the administrator referred to the congresswoman as “stupid black” and “ridiculous black”, among other offenses.
