China devalues human rights concerns expressed by Europe

China’s Foreign Minister on Sunday defended the detention camps in Xinjiang and Hong Kong’s new national security law, dismissing concerns expressed by European leaders about human rights

Wang Yi is making a journey through Europe, on his first official trip abroad, since the beginning of the new coronavirus pandemic, in an attempt to reinvigorate trade and relations, damaged by the current economic and public health crisis.

In Paris, Wang repeated the Chinese government’s claim that all members of Muslim ethnic minorities sent to re-education centers in the Xinjiang region, in the far west of China, were released and placed on the labor market.
