Last week, Chinese leader Xi Jinping gave clear orders aimed at the food industry, especially on the treatment of food waste, as a way to alert the population to the need not to waste food. In the context of the current pandemic, some food exporters have announced export restrictions.
Data show that about 13 countries have imposed sudden restrictions on food exports over the past few months. Countries like Russia, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and Kazakhstan.
We all knew that an extraordinary event in this century such as this pandemic would affect the production, collection, processing, storage, trade and transport of food worldwide, however, this impact, together with this year’s insect and flood pests, leads to that food prices in 2020 are likely to skyrocket, according to a report by the World Food Program.
