The National Health Commission of China recommended the use of chloroquine to treat patients with Covid-19, reports the South China Morning Post. In the first update that makes its “treatment guidelines” since March, the agency reserves:
“Some drugs may demonstrate a certain degree of effectiveness for treatment in clinical observation studies, but there are no effective antiviral drugs confirmed by double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials.”
In addition to chloroquine, “other recommended antiviral drugs include interferon and arbidol, but ribavirin must be used in conjunction with lopinavir or ritonavir,” the commission published.
