South Korean officials concerned about increased infections

South Korea has diagnosed 103 cases of covid-19 in the past 24 hours, mostly due to local transmission, prompting authorities to express concern that infections could get out of hand.

Most of the new cases – 83 – were registered in the metropolitan area of the capital, Seoul, a densely populated area, which fears the acceleration of the spread of the disease.

The rise in the number of infections was due to local transmissions, reported the South Korean Center for Disease Control and Prevention, at a time when travel in the interior of the country is increasing due to summer holidays.

Other large cities, such as Busan, Gwangju and Ulsan, also registered new cases.
