More than 500,000 children in Beirut are struggling for survival in a country experiencing economic stagnation, NGO Save The Children said on Wednesday.
Lebanon has been experiencing the worst economic and financial crisis in its history for months, exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic and marked by the collapse of the national currency, rising unemployment and hyperinflation.
In the Greater Beirut region, which includes the capital and suburbs, 910,000 people, including 564,000 children, are barely able to meet their basic needs, such as food, the NGO warned.
