Many associations of the Portuguese diaspora, established abroad, were founded in the fifties, sixties and seventies, always following the different waves of Portuguese emigration, being a way of bringing together compatriots in the distant host lands.

In the meantime, time has passed, some associations have been closed, others have been formed and associativism, even in pandemic times and despite all the difficulties, continues to show itself increasingly active and present, as an effective way to promote Portugal in the countries where the diaspora manifests itself, its members being true ambassadors of culture, business, tourism and everything that may be related to the country’s image abroad.
