Jorge Jesus: a love-hate relationship

When Jorge Jesus arrived in Brazil in July 2019, his entry into Flamengo was not well regarded by everyone.

Ex-players criticized, Brazilian coaches too, some journalists even humiliated him and Fla’s “crowd”… wrinkled their noses. When Jorge Jesus left Benfica in 2015, the atmosphere was also not the best. Even the relationship with Luís Filipe Vieira, president of the club, was shaken. In other words, Jorge Jesus moves everything and everyone, whether entering or leaving, even winning everything.

Now, in 2020, with Benfica attacking the return of Jorge Jesus, to replace Bruno Lage, the roles may be reversed. The atmosphere in Flamengo will ‘paint badly’, renewed and promised fidelity to the players and the club for months, where, according to him, he learned the word “love”; in Benfica, criticism will come, even internal, for the way it came out in 2015 and because the partners and supporters also never forgave him for the attacks on the structure, especially in the following times, when he went to Sporting.
