Fighting between FLEC-FAC and Angolan forces causes five deaths on the Congo border

In a statement, FLEC-FAC says that the Angolan Army launched an offensive on Tuesday night against the positions of the independence leaders of Cabinda, in the villages of Pengamongo and Sangamongo, municipality of Buco-Zau, near the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

In response to the offensive, FLEC -FAC says there were five dead, including two Angolan soldiers and three civilians. There are still three wounded on the FAC side. “The Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) take civilians as targets and commit abuses. They killed three civilians and detained individuals who they accused of belonging to FLEC ”, denounces the communiqué of the guerrillas of the Cabinda enclave.

“Insecurity reigns in the territory of Cabinda and makes it difficult to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. FLEC-FAC calls on the international community to act quickly to save the lives of innocents ”. Also according to the statement, the FAA’s attacks “often take the form of ambushes and incursions into Congolese villages”.
