Since George Floyd, an African-American, was murdered by a police officer, protests against police violence have spread across the United States, and have also sparked demonstrations against racism in Europe.
54 African countries have come together to file a formal complaint to the United Nations Human Rights Council where they condemn human rights violations by the USA, proposing that this problem be officially investigated. The Council, after discussing the matter at the General Assembly, approved the decision to initiate this investigation.
