The United States House of Representatives unanimously approved Wednesday a document that provides for automatic sanctions against Chinese authorities that violate that country’s international obligations regarding Hong Kong’s autonomy.
The text, which is slightly different from the one already approved in the upper house of the American Congress, also unanimously, on June 25, will be submitted to a new vote today precisely in the Senate.
The diploma will still have to be promulgated by the American President, Donald Trump, to enter into force, reports the news agency France-Presse (AFP).
