African Cup of Nations football postponed to 2022

The African Cup of Nations, scheduled from 9 January to 9 February 2021, has been postponed to 2022. However, it will take place in Cameroon, as planned.

The decision on the African Cup of Nations, reports the website of the African Football Confederation (CAF), came out of a meeting held yesterday by the Executive Committee of that body. On that occasion, the future of competitions and other issues related to post-Covid-19 was discussed.

The committee decided, after consulting the interested parties and taking into account the current global situation, to reschedule the event for January 2022. However, the date of the event and the other qualifying matches will be communicated in due course.
