The production and enjoyment of culture as a human condition dates back to the dawn of civilization.
It has always resulted from a certain level of development, with basic needs such as food, shelter and defense, the possibility that, in a society, a group of its members can dedicate themselves to the production of art and cultural goods. It results from an abundance that allows not all members to dedicate themselves to food production or community defense. What is produced is enough for others to engage in other activities.
Art and culture take place in honor of the gifts of Mother Nature, which gives human communities abundant food; in honor of divine entities, who would thus favor harvests. They also occur as an expression of power, as a tribute to the dead and as an amusement for crowds.
