USA purchased all of Remdesivir’s worldwide production for the next three months. As soon as local stocks run out, the rest of the world will not have access to this drug.
Remdesivir was the first drug approved by US health authorities for the new corona virus. The medication does not directly fight the disease, but speeds up the recovery process of the patients, thus allowing beds in Intensive Care to be available more quickly.
The first 140,000 doses, available worldwide are coming to an end. The Trump administration has now purchased more than 500,000 doses, representing the total production in July and 90% in August and September.
