MPLA President João Lourenço said yesterday in Luanda that with greater democratic openness, freedom of expression and the press and greater independence of the justice bodies, the fight against corruption has gone from mere politicians’ discourse to something concrete and visible to the citizen’s eyes
Speaking at the opening of the second ordinary meeting of the Political Bureau of the MPLA, the President of the Republic acknowledged that, in matters of fighting corruption, much more was done in two years than in 43 of Independence.
“Although it seems little, it is fair to recognize that, in terms of combating corruption, much more has been done in two years than has ever been done in 43 of the 45 years of National Independence”, he underlined. João Lourenço recalled that the fight against corruption and impunity is part of the set of measures with which the Executive intends to create a more favorable environment for private investment, since it assumes the development of the national economy as “priority of priorities”.
