Thousands received veterinary vaccine promoted by Peruvian evangelical group

At least 5,000 people have received an injection of veterinary ivermectin, which is considered a palliative for covid-19. It was presented to them as “a salvation”, but experts advise against it.

It is used in animals to fight parasites, but a Peruvian evangelical group considered that this vaccine could also be “a lifeline” for covid-19 in humans. According to the newspaper El País, at least five thousand inhabitants of the Peruvian Amazon received this injection of veterinary ivermectin, promoted by the religious group and the representative of the Loreto region, the largest on this side of the Amazon.

“Since May, the representative of the province of Loreto and an evangelical alliance have called people who listen to radio stations to apply veterinary ivermectin as if it were a vaccine against the disease. In Nauta, at least five thousand people received it ”. The testimony was given by Leonardo Tello, director of Rádio Ucamara, the main radio station in the city of Iquitos, located two hours from the capital of the region.
