An international mapping project that tracks viruses as they spread and change identified one of the mutations found in the new outbreak in Beijing as similar to European variants, including those identified in Portugal.
“The Beijing outbreak (…) is related to viruses circulating in Europe,” wrote Nextstrain on the social network Twitter, based on an analysis of data shared by the Chinese government.
The same source explained that a comparison with other viral mutations approximates these sequences with those identified in Portugal, Greece and the Czech Republic.
