President Jair Bolsonaro vetoed the transfer of R $ 8.6 billion from an extinct fund to combat the new coronavirus pandemic. With the veto, the funds can be used only to pay the public debt, as stated in the original text of Provisional Measure 909, edited in December and approved in May by the Chamber and the Senate.
During congressional proceedings, parliamentarians sewed an agreement to include an amendment that changed the allocation of resources from the Central Bank’s Monetary Reserve Fund (FRM). The resources, which were at a standstill, would be used to help states and municipalities in tackling the covid-19 pandemic.
