Angela Merkel does not want to leave Germany to be able to continue monitoring the situation of the new coronavirus.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel rejected the invitation of the American President to personally attend the G7 summit in June in the United States of America due to the pandemic context of covid-19, the German government office revealed.
“Currently, given the general situation of the pandemic, she cannot commit to participating personally [at the summit],” said her office, adding that Angela Merkel will continue to monitor the status of the new coronavirus.
