According to official data released on Sunday, Brazil is by far the country most affected by the pandemic in that area of the world.
There are more than 22 thousand deaths already confirmed and 363 thousand positive cases.
Covid-19 claimed more than 40,000 deaths in Latin America and the Caribbean, with Brazil accounting for more than half of the deaths in the region, according to a report by the AFP news agency.
In the last 24 hours alone, 653 deaths and 15,183 thousand new cases of covid-19 in Brazil were confirmed.
