The unemployed population, estimated at 348.1 thousand people, decreased 1.2% (4.3 thousand) in relation to the previous quarter and 1.6% (5.5 thousand) in relation to the 1st quarter of 2019.
The unemployment rate in the first quarter of 2020 stood at 6.7%, advances the National Statistics Institute. The recorded value is equal to the previous quarter and 0.1 percentage points (p.p.) lower than the same quarter of 2019.
According to INE, the unemployed population, estimated at 348.1 thousand people, decreased 1.2% (4.3 thousand) in relation to the previous quarter and 1.6% (5.5 thousand) in relation to the 1st quarter of 2019.
On the other hand, the INE report states that “the employed population, 4 865.9 thousand people, decreased 0.9% (41.7 thousand) compared to the previous quarter and 0.3% (14.3 thousand) year-on-year, the first negative year-on-year variation since the 3rd quarter of 2013. “
In another plan, the employed population absent from work rose to 452.1 thousand people (9.3% of the employed population), having increased by 33.0% (112.2 thousand) in relation to the previous quarter.
