In a press relesase, Theatro Circo announced its anniversary will be celebrated through direct links on Instagram pages of the artists involved, due to the impossibility of the celebration being held on stage, as a result of the measures to prevent covid-19 disease.
Last week, the artistic director of the Theater, Paulo Brandão, stated to Lusa that, since the “normal” program, already defined with multiple activities, was not possible, they wanted to “adapt and mark the anniversary virtually with several guests “, in particular” looking for those who have not yet done these ‘lives’ on Instagram or Facebook and also suggesting to artists to do something different “.
From 1pm, Theatro Circo starts the 105th anniversary party, with Duarte Valadares ‘dance performance’, followed by Mara Andrade and the concert by singer Tainá.
In the afternoon and night, through the Instagram of the various artists, you can watch performances by Mr. Gallini, Jorge Coelho, Carne Doce, Valter Hugo Mãe, Joana Gama, Adolfo Luxúria Canibal, Luís Figueiredo, António Durães, La Baq, Cachupa Psicadélica, André Henriques, Angélica Salvi, Márcia, Cristina Branco, Ana Moura, Rita Redshoes, Selma Uamusse, Pedro Abrunhosa, Conan Osiris and Doll Maron.
“A theater always fits inside a house, so on April 21, we decided that each of your houses will be a Theatro Circo full of magic in the room where you feel better: in the kitchen, in the living room or in the bedrooms. Paulo Brandão mentioned that all artists he decided to invite accepted and, in some cases, the performances will include surprises, like in the case of Valter Hugo Mãe.
“The idea was to create an appealing program and it is true that in the end we are using different stages, which are people’s homes or where they are quarantined”, said Paulo Brandão.
