According to data collected by the French news agency, at least 1,824,950 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19 disease since the beginning of the pandemic in 193 countries and territories.
However, AFP warns that these figures may reflect only a fraction of the total number of infections, since most countries are only testing people who show symptoms or who require hospital treatment.
