Researchers in an international study identified a drug, in the clinical testing phase, that blocks the effects of the disease caused by the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in the initial stage of infection.
Researchers at the Catalan Institute of Bioengineering in Spain, the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Life Sciences Institute at the University of British Columbia in Canada have identified the drug, which is undergoing clinical testing, using tiny kidneys generated from human stem cells, in a Barcelona laboratory, using bioengineering techniques.
