The balance of the new coronavirus pandemic in the United States could surpass 150,000 deaths, estimated the President of the country, Donald Trump today, during an interview in the White House, which compares with the current 120,000 fatalities.
The current balance is “probably 115 (115 thousand), but it may go a little higher, up to 150 (150 thousand), perhaps even more, but two to four million lives would have been lost” if the country did not had taken steps to slow the spread of the new coronavirus, Trump said, during an interview with the cable news network Spectrum News.
Trump referred to the model advanced by the Imperial College of London, which announced in mid-March a possible balance of 2.2 million deaths in the U.S. if no action was taken.
According to Johns Hopkins University, which is a reference in this matter, the balance of deaths in the USA today reached 120 thousand.
“We did a good job and now we are getting the country back on its feet,” he said during an interview at the White House.
Asked about the opportunity to organize new election campaign meetings, when several states in the south and west of the country are experiencing a new outbreak of infections, Trump said that health security was not being neglected.
“We are concerned with security,” he said. “We want to get rid of this thing,” he added.
The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 469,000 deaths and infected almost 9 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.
